Definition of East Africa Region

There has been a raging debate with some people on what constitutes the East Africa region.

1. Due to colonial territories of the British East Africa Protectorate and German East Africa, the term East Africa is often (especially in the English language ) used to specifically refer to the area now comprising the three countries of Kenya Uganda and Tanzania. This strictly colonial use is dated however, and most organizations have a wider meaning to the term.

2. The East Africa Community is a regional federation of Kenya Uganda Tanzania Rwanda and Burundi.

3. Following is the map of UN East Africa sub-region.

Nairobi Security Situation Worsens in last 6 months - Part 1

  1. Here is What some tweeple had to say when I reported the latest automatic gunfire, 5 rounds , just about 100m from my place.
  2. So what exactly happened that night. I only got a call from home about it, as I was away at office. This is what seems to have happended:
  3. Realization sinks. We see it on the roads, but why aren't there any reports in the newspapers? Why isn't there an outrage over basic security enablement?
  4. Sure, Crime rate is soaring through the roof....
  5. And tweeple second this....
  6. So why can't cops catch these thugs? What's going on? What's the reason for this lax security? What are the steps being taken to curtail this menace?
  7. Well, Almost nothing is being done. Thugs are ruling the roost. And one of the explanations does sound logical: This is not an electorally significant area... mostly inhabited by Asian origin Kenyans... who constitute a woeful minority in the cynical electoral Mathematics
  8. But the fact remains, why aren't Kenyans on social media reporting this? Why the apathy... Most Kenyans seem to be more interested in US and UK events than the life and death issues in their neighborhood...
  9. I'll try and get more points of view in my story, as I collate it from various forums...
